Video Girl Ai : Preproduction (Vol. 1)

School pals 'Youta' and 'Moemi' had decided to confide in each other as to the identity of their 'secret love'. Youta is terribly afraid to admit to Moemi that it is indeed she whom he holds this secret crush upon, and is further disappointed when she admits that her secret love is for the very popular 'Takashi', who just so happens to be Youta's best friend. Wandering the streets after having his heart thoroughly broken, Yota Moteuchi stumbles across a video shop he'd never noticed before: Gokuraku, as in 'paradise'. Nervous he'll be spotted checking out the 'adult section', Yota quickly pulls off the shelf - one that looks promising, but not too promising featuring a strangely costumed girl named 'Amano Ai'. When he plays her tape Video Girl Ai literally steps out of the TV screen and is dedicated to making him happy whether he likes it or not! She's a 'video girl', designed to provide company and comfort. She and Yota unwittingly fall in love, something that Ai is forbidden to do. Yota learns from their relationship that love and life are transitory, rather than permanent and that sometimes having loved and been loved is sufficient.
